Mid 2nd Trimester and 3rd Trimester = PE on Mondays and Fridays!

Illinois Safe Haven Law - Write a paragraph explaining what you learned about the law. Your paragraph should include an introductory sentence, at least 4 facts about the Safe Haven Law, and a concluding sentence. Questions that you should ask yourself as you are reading include: What did you learn about the law? What are your general thoughts about the law? What else do you want to know?

Week of November 28, 2016
  • Health: We watched the videos the students created on advertising a certain product. Afterwards, we went over the requirements for an upcoming career project. Hwk: none
  • PE: We did not have PE this week due to Parent Teacher Conferences.

Week of November 21, 2016
  • Health: Students took a quiz on the tactics that are used to advertise products and services. Then, students were asked to create a 30 second commercial on a product or service. Hwk: finish 30 second commercial
  • PE: We did not have PE this week due to Thanksgiving Break.


Week of November 14, 2016
  • Health: Students participated in a Elyssa's Mission, which talks about the signs of depression and suicide. Hwk: watch video on Checking the Media. There is no audio. Quiz on November 21st.
  • PE: We continued our basketball unit by scrimmaging each other.

Week of November 7, 2016
  • Health: At the beginning of class, students took a pre-assessment on Signs of Suicide and Depression with Mrs. Larrea. Afterwards, students took a quiz on Being an Informed Consumer. Their class assignment was to find the process behind filing a complain on BBB and locate a complaint that was filed. Hwk: watch video on Checking the Media. There is no audio. Quiz on November 21st.
  • PE: We continued our basketball unit by scrimmaging each other.

Week of October 31, 2016
  • Health: Students were assessed on Communicable vs. Non-Communicable Diseases. Hwk: watch video on Being an Informed Consumer and quiz

Week of October 24, 2016
  • Health: To prepare us for our unit test, students participated in a Jeopardy review game. Hwk: unit test on 10/31
  • PE: We continued our basketball unit by scrimmaging each other.

Week of October 17, 2016
  • Health: Students took a short quiz on Chronic Health Conditions. Afterwards, students were asked to research one type of chronic health condition.
  • PE: We started a new unit, which is basketball. Students were split up into teams and scrimmaged against each other.

Week of October 10, 2016
  • Health: We did not have Health class due to no school on Monday. Hwk: watch video Chronic Health Conditions and quiz
  • PE: We did not have class due to the Holy Fire retreat.

Week of October 3, 2016
  • Health: Students took a short quiz on last week's video, which was on cardiovascular diseases. Afterwards, students were partnered up and were asked to create a song using at least 5 vocabulary words from the lesson. Hwk: watch video Chronic Health Conditions and quiz
  • PE: We finished our last day of the volleyball unit by playing a regulation game.

Week of September 26, 2016
  • Health: Students took a quiz on Non-Communicable disease. Afterwards, they were asked to fill in a chart of 4 non-communicable diseases of their choice. Hwk: complete non-communicable research chart, watch video on Cardiovascular Disease, and quiz
  • PE: We continued our volleyball unit by playing a regulation game.

Week of September 19, 2016
  • Health: Students took a quiz on Common Communicable Diseases. From there, students had a few assignments to complete during class: communicable disease connection worksheet, create a creative story regarding a disease (Ah Choo City), and infectious disease research chart. Hwk: Ah Choo Story, connections worksheet, infectious diseases research chart, watch video and quiz Non-Communicable Diseases
  • PE: We did not have PE class this week due to professional development and Oktoberfest.

Week of September 12, 2016

Week of August 30, 2016
  • Health: Today was the first day of Health class and students were told the expectations and units that we are going to cover in the next trimester and a half. The layout of Health class will be different from the past as we will be approaching Health in a flipped classroom approach. Students every week can find a youtube link on this page that will have a powerpoint presentation with a voice over. Students are expected to watch this video every week and takes notes as they see fit. When they come into class every Monday, students will take a quiz on that material and work on an assignment related to the material that was discussed in the video.
  • PE: Our first unit in PE, which will last roughly 6 classes, is volleyball. To prepare us for the volleyball unit, students played a game called Newcomb. In Newcomb, similar skills are used in this game as well as in volleyball, which include: teamwork, calling the ball, trust in teammates, etc.
